Atelier Dentistry is a leading private dental Practice in Glasgow offering an emergency dental service. If you have any form of dental emergency, please contact us, we'll be pleased to help.
We understand that toothache and other dental problems don't always time themselves to coincide with your next check-up. Typically they occur in the middle of the night or at weekends! If you're suffering from dental pain and discomfort, below are links to some help and advice.
Contact us as soon as possible and book in your emergency appointment.
If you are experiencing toothache there are a few things you can do to ease your discomfort whilst waiting for your appointment.
Rinsing your mouth with warm salt water to help cleanse the affected area (adults only).
Eat soft foods and avoid chewing on the affected tooth.
If you have been involved in an incident involving the loss of a tooth, we advise you see our dentist straight away. Contact us as soon as possible and book in your emergency appointment.
For adult teeth, you can clean the root of the tooth with cold running water for no more than 10 seconds and place back into the hole in the gum.
If it goes back in, bite down gently on a clean cloth to hold the tooth in place and book an emergency appointment straight away.
If it does not go back in easily then place the tooth in a container of milk or saliva and bring it to your emergency appointment straight away.
If you have lost a filling or dental crown, there is no need to panic. Contact us as soon as possible and book in your emergency appointment.
Try to keep the area as clean as possible.
In case of further fracture, stick to a softer diet and avoid chewing on the concerned tooth.
Avoid anything too hot or too cold in case of sensitivity.
If you have lost a dental crown, keep the crown safe in a protective container ready to bring with you.
Abscesses are infections that occur around the root of a tooth or in the space between the teeth and gums. Abscesses are a serious condition that can damage tissue and surrounding teeth, with the infection possibly spreading to other parts of the body if left untreated. Because of the serious oral health and general health problems that can result from an abscess, if you discover a pimple-like swelling on your gum that usually is painful, please contact us as soon as possible and book in your emergency appointment.
In the meantime, to ease the pain and draw the pus toward the surface, try rinsing your mouth with a mild salt water solution (1/2 teaspoon of table salt in 8 ounces of water) several times a day.
If you are in pain during surgery hours, please call our Glasgow practice where every effort will be made to see our patients as quickly as possible.
