Referred patient treatment journey

Here at Atelier Dentistry, we have created a comprehensive patient treatment journey based on putting the needs, wishes and concerns of your patients first. Please scroll down to see an overview and further details.

REfer to us

Comprehensive communication & care

  • On receipt of your referral, we will acknowledge this immediately and thereafter keep you updated on your patient's treatment journey
  • We will provide you with a PDF copy of your referral to save to your patient's record
  • We will contact your patient as soon as possible to arrange an initial consultation - typically same day or within 1 working day
  • We will offer your patient an initial consultation as soon as possible - typically within 1-2 weeks
  • Urgent treatment requests will be dealt with as a high priority and as quickly as possible
  • We will contact you if needed to ensure we fully understand the reason for referral and obtain all relevant patient notes, scans and x-rays if these are available
  • At the initial consultation, we will listen carefully to the patient's wishes and concerns
  • We will also carry out a thorough examination and clinical assessment including any further investigations, x-rays or scans as needed in order to diagnose and make recommendations for treatment
  • If we are recommending alternative or additional treatment to the treatment you referred them for, we will contact you before proceeding
  • We will provide your patient with a Treatment Plan based on their wishes and concerns, the initial consultation, clinical information and any further investigations we may carry out
  • This Treatment Plan will include options where relevant and a clear recommendation together with an estimate of costs and length of time to complete the treatment
  • We will discuss the treatment plan in detail with your patient so that they fully understand what their options are and can make a well-informed decision
  • We would be happy to discuss the treatment plan in detail with you prior to your patient having to make a decision
  • We will keep you fully informed throughout your patient’s treatment so that you can discuss it with them at any time

Your Patient's Treatment Journey

Here is an overview of a typical patient treatment journey here at Atelier Dentistry:

Initial appointment

At the first appointment, in addition to a full clinical examination, we will scan the inside of the patient's mouth using our digital scanner which allows us to produce 3D images of teeth, soft tissue, nerve pathways and bone in a single scan. We also have a Cone Beam scanner and it may be necessary to use this for additional investigation.

Treatment Plan

We will provide your patient with a Treatment Plan based on their wishes and concerns, the initial consultation, clinical information and any further investigations we may carry out. This Treatment Plan will include options where relevant and a clear recommendation together with an estimate of costs and length of time to complete the treatment. We would be happy to discuss the treatment plan in detail with you prior to your patient having to make a decision.

Treatment Plan acceptance

If your patient decides to go ahead with treatment, they will be able to sign their acceptance online and we will then arrange for any deposit and fee payment to be made. Alternatively, we will also progress any initial patient finance application. Importantly, we will inform you about the patient's decision.

Course of Treatment

Further to the patient formally accepting their Treatment Plan, we will plan and book the necessary appointments for their course of treatment. If any initial treatment has been agreed to be carried out by you prior to commencement of our COT, we will liaise with your team to co-ordinate timings. During this time, we will keep you informed of progress.

Treatment completion

Once treatment is finished, we will carry out a series of specific actions designed to check everything planned has worked as intended and advise the patient that our involvement is completed. This will include asking for patient feedback about their treatment, care and experience. We will share this feedback and inform you that the patient is being sent back to your ongoing care.

Aftercare

To ensure long-term success of the treatment, we will stress to the patient the importance of ongoing regular check-ups and conscientious oral hygiene with you, their regular dentist. In the rare event of post-treatment complications, we guarantee that your patient will receive remedial care as a priority.
